Summer’s Coming…Can You Compete with the Beach?

Posted in Search Engine Optimization by Marc Arner on the May 21st, 2008

Every season brings another challenge for particular industries. Unless you are in the tourism industry, summer presents particular challenges, not the least of which is less money as businesses are often approaching the end of their fiscal year. Additionally, business – in most industries – inherently slows during the summer months when people are on vacation and there is less focus on the buying and selling of goods and services.

This is where web sites actually have a bit of an advantage. The Internet is accessible everywhere, and so the target audience of any online business does not necessarily have to be sitting behind a desk in order to be interested in whatever products or services a web site has to sell. In fact, with the use of laptops more popular than ever, web sites have the opportunity to engage their audience no matter where they may be at the moment – summer vacation notwithstanding.

But the question remains….is your web site able to compete with the beach? It’s not enough to be sexy enough to compete; there are plenty of slick web sites out there that are hot enough to capture visitors’ attention and keep them coming back for more. But without first engaging the attention of the search engines, web sites simply fall into the “all beauty and no brains” category; and that’s a category that is not destined for long term virtual survival.

A web site optimization firm, however, is in a great position to help their clients increase web traffic. Through comprehensive search engine optimization (SEO) programs, web sites are doing all they can to put the tools in place to be found this summer by their beachside audience.

Smart web site owners know that search engine optimization is important no matter what the season; and that summer can be just as good a time as any to increase web site traffic through SEO.
