Why Do Websites Fail? Improper Search Engine Optimization the Cause
No one goes into business anticipating failure; we all go into it armed with as many resources as we have been able to gather and with the utmost in confidence that we will succeed. The problem often becomes that, once a business is on the road to success, business owners tend to hit their cruise control and begin to coast on what they have managed to accomplish. But sooner or later there will come a bend in the road and if someone is not at the wheel – paying close attention…well, the analogy is self-explanatory.
This can be most appropriately applied to websites, where many website owners tend to put things in motion and take their hands off the wheel – tuning in only when they realize that website traffic is not something that is automatically forthcoming.
Website success is measured in web traffic; without a steady stream of website traffic, websites are not able to appropriately reach their target audience and ultimately convert visitors to customers. One of the most effective ways to increase web traffic is through proper search engine optimization; but as it stands today, less than 5% of all websites are properly optimized. So while website owners may think they have all done all that they can – and promptly shift to cruise control – chances are they are headed for disaster.
Proper search engine optimization comes down to essential steps through which appropriate keywords are chosen for the website and reciprocal links are incorporated into the site. The chosen keywords are then infused into content that meets a number of needs – raising the website’s visibility, and ultimately, page ranking, with the search engines, and adding value for visitors to the website.
While other methods may have a faster return they are often only temporary solutions. Only through proper search engine optimization can websites significantly – and consistently – increase web traffic.
