No Cookie Cutter SEO, Part II

Posted in Website Optimization Firm, Search Engine Optimization by Marc Arner on the July 15th, 2008

There is a trend that happens in the beginning of every season and it can be seen in the windows of the most popular retail clothing stores. A parade of fashion comes streaming in front of the glass, showcased by lithe manikins on which even the most garish of outfits will look surprisingly good. The fashions of the season come early to tempt us with their trendy hemlines and sparkling accessories and we fall for it every time – especially women (it’s in our genetic code). And what we learn each and every year – time and time again – in the same disappointing lesson that is continually repeated - is that not every piece of clothing, no matter how trendy, no matter how popular, no matter how GREAT it looks on everyone else (everyone in the whole world besides you is what you have convinced yourself) will look best and most appealing on your particular body.

You can scream ‘not fair’ you can jump up and down but the fact remains that cookie cutter doesn’t always cut it. Cookie cutter clothes will go out of style, cookie cutter houses tend to be in tree barren neighborhoods, shrubbery ripped down so that the builders could fit more houses closer together, and in truth, cookie cutter just doesn’t work in most capacities – especially in business.

The most popular business of the day – the one in which business owners are striving to learn all they can in order to make their efforts successful – is the operation of a web site. It has been shown – and is invariably known by web site owners near and far - that without comprehensive search engine optimization efforts a web site is destined to fall short of its ability to increase web site traffic and achieve success.

But not all search engine optimization is the same and any web site optimization firm that offers a one size fits all approach to its clients is selling them short.

In the next post, we’ll continue to examine customized SEO efforts.

Steady SEO to Move Us Toward Fall, Part II

Posted in More Website Traffic, Website Optimization Firm, Search Engine Optimization by Marc Arner on the July 11th, 2008

In the last post we discussed the importance of consistency when it comes to search engine optimization and how it behooves a web site to perhaps work toward their SEO goals this summer in preparation for the coming fall. Working with a web site optimization firm will allow a web site to put particular plans in place that will help them achieve higher page rankings and increase web site traffic.

As we said before, a web site optimization firm will undoubtedly examine the web site as it exists so that it can make recommendations regarding those elements that should be kept and those that should be overhauled towards their SEO goal. This initial stage will surely examine the functionality and design of the site itself; something that should be appealing to visitors and allow them to navigate easily and freely throughout the site. Any roadblocks in this particular area would thwart visitors from a return visit.

A web site optimization firm will then likely implement particular search engine optimization efforts for their client so that the site is in the best position possible to achieve high page rankings and continually increase web traffic. This may include the inclusion of keyword rich content on the site – continually changing content that will spark the interest of the search engines as well as act as a resource for visitors to the site.

Additionally a web site optimization firm will help a site establish linking that will draw additional visitors to the site and establish a customized marketing plan that will help a site achieve success.

Work Smarter Online, Part I

Posted in Website Optimization Firm, Search Engine Optimization, Website Traffic by Marc Arner on the July 8th, 2008

Working online – for those who have web sites – is about working smart; if you are to earn money, that is. Just like with any business, web site ownership requires strident practices in order to best reconcile the effort you are putting in with the benefits you are getting out of it. Traditional businesses see this every day; if they are not working at their most efficient, they will soon find that they are putting far too much effort into the process and not getting nearly enough out of it in order to make it worth all the effort. After all, every hour that a person spends working (even if it’s their own business) is worth a certain amount of money; the longer the hours you work the less you are making an hour – it’s a simple economic truth. That’s why business consultants help traditional businesses learn how to work smarter; teaching them how to best to balance their time and work efficiently so they can maximize their earnings.

In the virtual world, these business consultants often equate to a web site optimization firm. The way in which a web site optimization helps a web site owner work smarter is by giving them the tools and resources to optimize their site so that it is on the radar of the search engines, which in turn makes the web site accessible by their target audience, which subsequently works to increase web site traffic that can be converted to business, thereby making the web site owner more money.

If a web site owner were to spend all of their time working to increase web site traffic through search engine optimization efforts they would quickly find that it is the only thing they have any time to do, thus having the opposite effect of what they wanted to achieve.

In the next post, we’ll uncover some of the specific ways in which a web site optimization firm can help a web site work smarter.

Optimizing Your Own Site: Time Well Spent?

Posted in Website Optimization Firm, Search Engine Optimization by Marc Arner on the June 30th, 2008

There are many projects that we enjoy taking on ourselves; after all the home improvement genre has sparked such a mass do-it-yourself movement that most of us are hard pressed to have professional help putting in a electrical socket let alone replacing a bathroom. We have been told in no uncertain terms that we are capable – with the proper tools – to take on anything alone and not only will we save money but we’ll have fun doing it. Armed with the desire to come in under budget and the promise of self-satisfaction we set to work; and in most cases we very quickly realize that we have been bamboozled. There is such a thing as a false economy; trying to save money only works against us and costs us more money in the end. Do-it-yourself doesn’t work when you have professional goals in mind; ask any web site owner.

Web site ownership is plagued with pitfalls; mostly due to the overconfidence that once a web site is up and running it will be self-sufficient, capable of sustaining web site traffic by the sheer force of its design and functionality. But the truth is, that without continued search engine optimization efforts, a web site may be exceedingly vulnerable to gaining initial traction and then just as quickly losing ground. And search engine optimization is something that while some web site owners may think they have the time and skill set to approach on their own, it is often best left to the professionals that understand the importance of these efforts and the way in which to go about it.

More than anything, a web site optimization firm is completely focused on the task at hand. Their job is to make sure that their client’s site is optimized appropriately and will subsequently draw the attention of the search engines so that they continually increase web site traffic.

Increasing Web Traffic: What Industry Peers Have to Say

Posted in Website Optimization Firm, Search Engine Optimization, Website Traffic by Marc Arner on the June 25th, 2008

In any business, throughout any industry, workers often gain traction by conferring with each other about tools and resources that are likely to work for them. In the past, people in similar industries and with likeminded interests were able to meet each other through professional groups and events where they could mix, mingle, pick brains, and gather information. Today, while there is still the opportunity to come together in this manner, industry professionals have another tool at their disposal – the Internet. Through online forums and with the use of other virtual components professionals are able to share information with each other in order to work towards the common good.

This is especially true for web sites that are looking to build web traffic and bolster their customer base. By working together through the exchange of information, web site owners are able to determine what works and what does not in terms of meeting their goal to increase web site traffic.

Luckily, there are various options open to web site owners that allow them to explore different ways to increase web traffic and ultimately build more business. Through forums dedicated to web site owners, professionals that are attempting to reach similar goals can hash out different methods that may have worked for one and could conceivably work for another. Conversely, these forums alert web site owners to methods that are perhaps not worthy of trying in terms of garnering more website traffic.

Recommendations for professional help are often forthcoming through such sites as well. Those web site owners that feel that they need help with their search engine optimization efforts can generally find recommendations for a reputable web site optimization firm that has had success delivering other sites to high search engine page rankings, and ultimately helping them increase web traffic.

Launching Multiple Sites?

Posted in Website Optimization Firm by Marc Arner on the June 13th, 2008

Oftentimes good things come in pairs – or even more. Some businesses, in an effort to expand their customer base will actually operate a multitude of operations at once, cross marketing their services and therefore reaching a much larger target audience. Web sites are no exception to this and many web site owners consider launching multiple sites that link to each other in an effort to serve their customers and clients more effectively.

In terms of search engine optimization, web sites have a much better chance of achieving success by being able to cross market and include reciprocal links between their sites. Links are the online arena’s version of a popularity contest; each link counts as a “vote” for a web site, and essentially the more votes a web site has the more credibility they have with the search engines and the more opportunities they have to raise their page rankings and increase web site traffic.

Ultimately every web site wants to be visited often by a large base of targeted traffic; and we know that the search engines are the method through which potential visitors are able to find our sites. Search engine optimization then becomes critical to a site’s success; without putting proper tools in place to appeal to the search engines web sites are vulnerable to being lost in cyberspace. They may have all the bells and whistles – the products, the service, the user friendly site – but if no one can find them their efforts are moot.

Working with a web site optimization firm, web sites are able to pinpoint those areas that they can work on in terms of finding their unique search engine optimization balance. Certainly keyword rich content will be utilized in some capacity, as this is what links the search engine user – seeking out particular products, services, or information – to the relevant sites. But links are equally important in establishing a site’s viability. With multiple sites – that have been linked between each other and with other relevant, reputable web sites, there is a greater chance of success.

Relaunch the Right Way; Enjoy Long Term Online Success

Posted in Website Optimization Firm by Marc Arner on the May 28th, 2008

Similar to traditional businesses, web sites may experience an initial amount of success; but such an experience in the short term does not necessarily guarantee long term success. In fact, there are plenty of web sites that while they may have experienced great success and continual web traffic, found that a change in trends and their inability to adapt showed that they were unable to remain viable in the long term. Those web sites are not necessarily down for the count, however. Web sites that want a second chance at success can easily consider the possibility of relaunching the site and redefining their goal to increase web traffic.

Helping web sites in their goals to find success for a second time is the web site optimization firm – a professional online marketing company that helps web sites lay out their goals and work towards them with a clearly defined objective. Search engine optimization will always be a huge component of any website’s success. In fact, those web sites that find themselves in a position of having to relaunch may consider if their lack of search engine optimization effort was what ultimately led their inability to increase web traffic.

Going forward, web sites interested in capturing their target audience and optimizing their ability to increase website traffic should look towards search engine optimization with the help of a web site optimization firm. With professional guidance, web sites will find that by employing particular elements – the inclusion of keyword rich content and reciprocal links – that a web site is in the best position possible to increase web traffic and receive high page rankings through the search engines. Ultimately, maintaining long term success online is all about being able to adapt and reconfigure so that a web site is on the radar of the search engines and able to reach their audience effectively.

A Website Optimization Firm Can Help Define Goals

Posted in Website Optimization Firm by Marc Arner on the May 14th, 2008

A successful business needs a business plan; something that puts into perspective all of the things that the business owners wish to accomplish, the manner in which they will achieve those goals, and the timeframe during which they will achieve these goals. Websites – otherwise known as the modern business or the supplement to a traditional business – also need a business plan; a method by which website owners will define their goals for their site.

This is not an easy thing to put together for website owners and often they may turn to a website optimization firm to help them layout their objectives so that everything is clear and understood. For example, while it may have been the initial goal of the website owner to create a beautiful, functional site, it may now be time to move past this initial goal and focus on generating substantial website traffic – to increase the chances of converting visitors to customers.

A website optimization firm will assess the current state of the website – how it’s built, how it functions, and what it offers – and help to define the goals that the website owner wishes to achieve going forward. There may need to be some changes made to the site in terms of functionality or what is being offered to visitors, but beyond that website owners will more than likely be most interested in search engine optimization – a goal that a website optimization firm can help website owners achieve.

Search engine optimization refers to the outfitting of a website to the degree that it is able to achieve an organic high ranking on the online search engines – appearing on the first or second page of a search engine’s results. To help achieve this goal, a website optimization firm will help a website put search engine optimization components into place including keyword rich site content, reciprocal links, and additional marketing elements.

A Website Optimization Firm Can Help Define Goals

Posted in Website Optimization Firm by Marc Arner on the May 9th, 2008

With traditional businesses, the need for a business plan is vitally important as it lays out all of the expectations set forth by owners and management of the company. Without such a plan in place there is no way to measure success through the reaching of well defined benchmarks.

A website is no different in this capacity; in order for a site to be successful, a business plan must be put into place so that there are well defined objectives set forth for website owners to reach. For example, it may be the goal of a website to generate a certain amount of traffic during its first year online and to increase that traffic by a certain percentage the following years after. Or it may be the goal of a website to put particular search engine optimization processes into place so that their page rankings rise exponentially on the online search engines.

Whatever the goals set forth by a website, the important thing is that there are goals at all – the benchmarks by which to measure a website’s growth and successful achievements. With those websites struggling to define their goals and objectives, a website optimization firm can be a critical component in their success.

A website optimization firm is a professional marketing company that helps websites achieve their goals. A website optimization firm will assess the position that a website is currently in and the objectives they can set forth to help them grow as a company. If search engine optimization is the goal, a website optimization firm will help a website devise methods through which to raise their online search engine rankings through the use of keyword rich content, linking, and more; if increased web traffic is the goal, a website optimization firm will work with companies to put a plan in place.

The Website Optimization Firm Helps Bridge the Gap Between Internet & Marketing, Part II

Posted in Website Optimization Firm by Marc Arner on the May 3rd, 2008

In the last post we discussed the role of a website optimization firm in the overall success of a website’s marketing efforts; and how a website optimization firm fulfills the same role for a website as a marketing company or advertising agency fills for a traditional business. The ultimate goal of a website optimization firm is often to make sure the search engine optimization objectives of a website are being met. To this end, the website optimization firm will ensure that certain elements are put in place on their client’s website; elements such as keyword rich content and reciprocal links that will help raise their visibility with the online search engines and ultimately send more traffic their way. More traffic means more customers.

Part of the process of search engine optimization is ensuring that a website is achieving high page rankings on the online search engines. When an Internet user is searching out a particular website – one that may offer the goods or services that they seek – they utilize the online search engines to point them in the right direction. Understanding this process, website owners that want to further their search engine optimization efforts seek to include content on their website that incorporates the keywords that potential visitors are likely to use on the search engines.

The more resources that a website can provide the search engines the more noticeable they will remain and the higher their page rankings. Higher page rankings are generally considered to be page one or two on the results delivered by the search engines. Because users tend to go with one of the websites that they find on these two pages – and rarely go beyond these first two pages – it is essential for websites to achieve, and maintain, high page rankings; something that a website optimization firm can help them achieve.
