Steady SEO to Move Us Toward Fall, Part I

Posted in Website Optimization Services, Search Engine Optimization by Marc Arner on the July 10th, 2008

The summer is here, but unfortunately (as all school aged children will tell you) it will be over as fast as it has arrived. Come the fall, the pace of most of our lives will speed up considerably; we get back into a routine that has little to do with vacations and trips to the beach and everything to do with school, activities, meetings, and appointments. Business speeds up as well in the fall when employees are back from their trips and are more focused on the business at hand. Decision makers are back at their desks and suddenly things are back in the swing.

Web sites don’t typically follow this same curve of activity, but the summer is still a time when web site owners can set a course for the coming year. One of the biggest considerations for a web site’s success is its search engine optimization efforts. And may now be the time – when business is slower and there is time in the crazy pace of life to take a break – to re-examine their current search engine optimization efforts and make a plan that will help them increase web site traffic by fall.

To this end, many web sites choose to work with a web site optimization firm that can lead them in the right direction and help them make decisions regarding their future SEO path. What any reputable and successful web site optimization firm will suggest – from their own experience with similar clients – is a consistent effort; effective SEO is about never taking your foot off the ignition pedal towards the goal at hand.

First and foremost, a web site optimization firm will examine the web site as it currently exists to determine what works and what should be adjusted to meet the SEO goals set forth.

In the next post, we’ll outline some of the steps a web site optimization firm will take in helping a web site meet its goals for the fall.

Search Engine Optimization to Remain Competitive

Posted in Website Optimization Services by Marc Arner on the March 30th, 2008

Business is about competition – it has always been this way and it will remain so in the interest of customers being served appropriately and corporations earning money towards their bottom line; competition makes the business world go around, plain and simple. For traditional businesses that have faced this competition every day, they turn to the tried and true tactics that continues to make their customers happy, that continues to earn them money – and ultimately, more customers. Without achieving this continually, a business will eventually fold. Today’s businesses, however, face an additional component on the playing field – the Internet. There are some businesses for which their website is simply another element of their company – an extension of the bigger picture. For others, the website IS the business – the face of the company and portal through which customers enter and business is conducted. In either case, as businesses quickly come to discover, the Internet is a competition in and of itself and the website must be attended to accordingly.

Search engine optimization – a term that most people have heard but which many do not fully understand. Search engine optimization is ultimately what will decide if a website is to be competitive or not.

When Internet users are searching for particular information, goods, or services they will likely turn to the online search engines for assistance. Using the search engine they will enter particular keywords or keyword phrases to be used as their search criteria. The search engines, in turn, use those keywords to match the user with a website that may be of interest to them.

Search engine optimization simply means making sure that a website will be easily found by the search engines. To accomplish this, websites are advised to include keyword rich content on their site – using the keywords likely to be used by search engine users that are looking for goods and services.

Keywords are not a one-trick pony, however, In order to make sure that search engine optimization is effective, websites may choose to work with professionals who can help keep them optimized.

Tracking Your Progress With A Website Optimization Firm

For website owners part of the responsibility of having a website is managing its day-to-day functionality and success. While it is important to have a site that is both user-friendly and attractive, it is equally important to be putting certain elements in place to ensure that visitors will find your site in the first place – and continue to come back for more.

Many website owners in this position turn to a website optimization firm to help them ensure that they have all the pertinent things in place for the website to be successful. For instance, a website optimization firm will work with a client to ensure that the content that they offer on the site is keyword rich, continually updated, and offers informative and entertaining subject matters that will interest readers enough to revisit the site.

Most importantly, online content – along with reciprocal linking, blogging, and other features of search engine optimization as laid out by the website optimization firm - will put a website in the advantageous position of being noticed by the search engines. Search engines can then offer your website address as a part of their organic search engine results – sending website traffic and possibly loyal users your way.

As an additional service, a website optimization firm may offer tracking reports that demonstrate your site’s ranking prior to starting optimization measures – and how that ranking has improved since your focused optimization efforts.

Increase Your Links With A Website Optimization Firm

There are many factors that contribute to a website’s success. For one, a website must be attractive and streamlined enough to be noticed and enjoyed by a user. Secondly a website must be search engine optimized in order for it to be a viable player in the online world. A website optimization firm has the responsibility of making sure their client’s websites are just that – optimized for success in this competitive market.

One of the most important roles of a website optimization firm is to ensure that the client website has all of the elements necessary to make it search engine friendly – including keyword rich content and continually updated material. Savvy website owners are continually adding new levels of interest to their sites including blogs, video blogs, and the like, to ensure that their site is noticed both by users and by search engines.

One of the most important ways that a website achieves search engine optimization is through linking to other sites. By making your site interesting and evolving, a website optimization firm is setting your site up to be link friendly; that is, other sites, relevant to your site, will want to link with you – wherein they offer their visitors links to your website from their site – if they feel that you have something of interest to offer their visitors. In return, such a website may want you to establish a reciprocal link, wherein you offer a link to their website as well. Link reciprocity is enormously helpful in optimizing your website for search engines and a website optimization firm can show you how to go about it.

Not Every Website Optimization Firm Is The Same

Those who choose to invest in online real estate are faced with significant challenges. Operating a successful website that furthers your businesses, increases your bottom line, and imparts relevant information to your target audience is no small feat, and, often, website owners that are challenged with building their website while simultaneously running a business, find it beneficial to turn to a professional website optimization firm that can streamline, and elevate the quality, of their site.

But in searching for a website optimization firm, prospective clients will soon discover that not every outfit is the same. In a strangely ironic twist, the Internet has offered a breeding ground for often ineffectual website optimization firms – taking advantage of the very thing in which they are purporting to have expertise. Search engine results will often yield a great number of firms that look and sound great; but the proof, as they say, is in the pudding.

Any website optimization firm that you are considering should be willing to offer proof that their practices achieve results. Ask them for models of past and current customers that show – in detail – the results the website optimization firm was able to achieve. Further, a reputable website optimization firm – as a part of their business practices – will analyze your site and offer an optimization plan that is specific to your needs in reaching your unique customer base.

Original Online Content For More Website Traffic

Posted in More Website Traffic, Website Optimization Services by Marc Arner on the September 10th, 2007

A website is a company or individual’s online “face” to the world; it presents the philosophy of the company, as well as the goods or services it provides through a portal that ideally merges form and function for the ultimate visitor experience. Anyone operating a website knows the challenge of staying current in an ever-changing online market. While clearly imperative, it is simply not enough to create a great looking, functional website; in order for visitors to stay loyal and for you to continue to attract more website traffic and build you business it is just as important to tend to the site, ensuring that it continually offers all the elements that will keep visitors coming back – while being satisfied with the value they receive from their visit.

One of the ways in which website owners continually attract an audience is through the updating of their site content. Website content – especially keyword rich website content – optimizes a site so that it is more easily located by the online search engines. Search engine users who are trying to locate specific goods or services will use keywords or keyword phrases to conduct their search. If those keywords or phrases match the words that you are using in your online content, the search engine will deliver your website address as a part of their ranked results. Online content helps increase your ranking in search engine results and increases your value for your visitors.

Some website owners link to other website’s content in an effort to add value to their own site. The content to which they link will be somehow related to the goods and services that their own website provides, and by linking to another site they are able to further increase their ranking with online search engines, not to mention add value for their visitors, thus creating more website traffic and building business.

But in order to really establish your website as a source of information – a valuable place for visitors to visit multiple times that will subsequently build more website traffic, it makes the most sense for your site to include continually updated, informative, and original content. After all, not only do you want to attract more website traffic; you want to keep people on your site. Passing them off to another site doesn’t benefit your long term success or build a solid customer base.

Ultimately, if you are going to spend time and money optimizing your website to be all that it can be for your visitors, you are wise to create original content that will go further in creating more website traffic.

Customizing Your Site Design With A Website Optimization Firm

Posted in Website Optimization Services, Website Optimization Firm by Marc Arner on the September 4th, 2007

Websites are as varied as the individuals and businesses that operate them; from one to the next you are likely to find everything from simple corporate designs with little functionality to full flash programming and functional commerce. Today, we shop, communicate, work, and find entertainment through online resources, and there are millions of websites dedicated to any subject matter of which we could ever possible conceive. Making sure that your particular website stands out in the crowd – especially if you have a service or a product to sell – can be difficult, but ultimately worth any effort. Many people automatically think of search engine optimization when determining the steps to make their website successful. And while such optimization is crucial, the recipe for a website’s success starts much earlier in the game.

A website design is what brands your overall product. And when users logon to your site, they should have a pretty clear understanding of what you do and what you offer within the first few seconds. Further, the overall website design should be something that reflects the personality of your company and demonstrates your commitment to making the user experience an enjoyable and successful one.

Surprisingly to some, the same professionals that can assist you in search engine optimization are often just as skilled in creating your website’s design. In fact, who better to implement your site’s design than the company that will be continue to be invested in its success through search engine optimization?

A website optimization firm – one that offers a full range of services – should be able to offer you a customized website design; a design that furthers your company brand and offers the highest quality user experience to your customers. A website optimization firm understands the full scope of a successful website – from its design and functionality, to the products it offers, to its relation to the search engines. Any website optimization firm, therefore, that is invested in a website’s long term viability will gladly offer customized design to get a head start on success.

Reaching Your Target Audience With A Website Optimization Firm

Posted in Website Optimization Services, Website Optimization Firm by Marc Arner on the September 2nd, 2007

The challenges of every website are the same across the board; create a website that interests and satisfies your users so that they return on a frequent basis, and get them there in the first place. The creation of the website itself is – in most regards – the easy part. If you are able to provide the high quality products and services that will appease your customers and do so in an attractive, informative, and interesting environment, then you’ve won half the battle. The other half of the battle – getting users to your site in the first place – is less in your control, but achievable nonetheless. But more than anything, it is not just important to attract users to your site; it is important to attract the right kind of users to your site. Reaching your particular target audience is what will get you results in terms of your visibility, website traffic, and impact to your bottom line. A website optimization firm can help you identify your target audience and put elements in place that will further your opportunities to reach that audience.

In a general sense, a website optimization firm is responsible for increasing your exposure with the online search engines. Search engines drive customers to our websites, based on search criteria entered by the users. If the criteria match elements found within our website, the search engines will include the site’s information in their ranked results. It is the job of the website optimization firm to increase your website’s ranking with the online search engines, thus increasing your opportunities to find and attract your target audience.

One of the ways in which a website optimization firm assists a website in achieving this higher online search engine ranking is with the inclusion of keyword rich content on the site. Such content may include frequently updated articles that include keywords associated with the particular goods and services that the website provides; or the content may include written or video blogs that contain similar information. Such content serves a dual purpose; it attracts the attention of the search engines through which users are seeking your particular good and services; and it increases the value for visitors to your site who will now have the opportunity to receive additional information through your content. In order to reach your target audience, a website optimization firm will work with you to best tailor your online content to achieve the results you desire.

More Website Traffic With Title Tags

Posted in More Website Traffic, Website Optimization Services by Marc Arner on the August 28th, 2007

When it comes to generating more website traffic for your site, search engine optimization is essential. Without the search engines on your side, you have significantly decreased chances of ever being found by your target audience. Online search engines take users’ criteria and match it to corresponding websites. Unless your site is conducive to such correspondence, then you will have a much more difficult time generating the traffic you desire.

One of the ways that professionals optimize websites is through the use of title tags. In the world of search engines, title tags are the behind-the-scenes worker bees. The title tag includes the keywords from a particular website; the words that the search engines use to index their results. When you enter search criteria into search engines, the results they return each have a title tag – the link on which you can click to visit that particular site.

Based on this description, it is easy to see why title tags are so important; they become the calling card of your website; not only the way in which search engines find and categorize you but ultimately the way in which users find your website.

Websites can submit their title tags directly to the search engines but if they are not constructed appropriately it can easily sabotage your chances for generating more website traffic. It is often a good idea, if you have professionals handling the nuances of your website optimization, to have them handle the creation of your title tags as well. As part of an overall website optimization, title tags will go a long way towards branding your site, generating more website traffic, and introducing your target audience to the goods and services you can provide them.
